A Zoo! (If You're Into That Sort of Thing)
First and foremost: Zoos aren't for everyone. I get that.
Personally, they're not quite my jam but I won't go all PETA and denounce anyone who visits zoos, because they do some great work with preservation and research. That being said, if you are a fan of majestic animals, whimsy, cultural diversity, children's laughter and eating snacks outdoors, then boy do I have a place for you.
The Lyon Zoo in La Parc de la Tête D'Or is located in 6th and boasts over 300 animals on view. The zoo, also known a La Jardin Zoologique de Lyon, has a large area for resting if your kids (or you, les parents) need to recharge from a day out, complete with food carts, grass for sitting and fantastic people watching. The best part? It's free!
On my first visit to the park with a large group of friends, the few that were uncomfortable with the idea of Zoos rested and ate popsicles while the others got to see over 66 species of animals in the heart of Lyon. There's truly something for everyone.
